Another packed edition as we hopefully head into a warm summer. As I write this my children are anticipating finishing school for the summer holidays and the other half is anticipating finishing the roof over our garage and porch - he’s not allowed down from it until it’s finished! Not that he will be allowed much of a break as our daughter wants him to make her a new bed. She’ll be coming up for 6yrs soon and the poor thing still sleeps in a cot bed. The other half’s opinion is” if her feet aren’t touching the bottom there is nothing to worry about” - nb if Social Services are reading this her feet aren’t touching the bottom and she still has plenty of room J
I have to admit to having trouble getting this edition of the Bugle together. I’m suffering with “can’t be bothered” syndrome this week, coupled with over dosing on the new season’s cherries leading to an intestinal disturbance! And my desk just looks like someone has emptied a bin on it (well, that in itself isn’t unusual - but it is much much worse than usual). When people come round here about articles or adverts for the Bugle I swear they must look at my desk and wonder how on earth I manage any order. But somehow every other month I do,It’s great to see some more new companies advertising I’m particularly intrigued by the “Scarface Pickle Company”. I’m not really that keen on pickled stuff & chutneys but I just love the name of the company, I may have to go and buy a jar of something just to satisfy my nosy streak - see their ad on P18. Also don’t miss the poems on P29 & P33.
Can I just remind people that anyone is welcome to contribute to the Bugle, just please don’t expect me to write the article for you. I have neither the time or the creativity to be able to do it. Similarly if you have put something together think about how it will look in the Bugle. I receive some lovely items, but if they fill 3 sheets of A4 they would take up 6 pages in the Bugle! To fill a page something along the lines of 500 words works well. Also when it comes to emails/phone calls, I do generally reply but please don’t get worried if you haven’t heard anything straight away, apart from the few days around the copy deadline, I only check Bugle emails roughly every couple of weeks. As alluded to in the last edition of the Brantham Bugle, it’s now on the internet. Thanks have to go to Mark at Docuright for sorting it all out, and for putting up with me asking every stupid question under the sun whilst he was doing it!
My intention is to keep 3 editions live at a time and to encourage our advertisers to advertise on the web site as well. A lot of this is dependent on how much time I have, at present I am studying for a diploma, working and looking after two young children, so my spare time is rather limited. So if any of you out there fancy helping put the Bugle content onto the website do get in touch. It really isn’t difficult it’s just a matter of copying and pasting the content on there - if I can do it, anyone can!
Now that the Bugle is on the internet do send the link to all you know, perhaps people that used to live in Brantham and have moved away, be it near or far. I remember a while ago getting an email from someone in Australia saying that the paper copy of the Bugle was posted to them to they could keep up. Well now they can use the wonders of the internet so keep upto date with local information. Hoping you all have a great summer.

LOCAL START UP BUSINESS GETS THE BUGLE ON THE WEB
www.branthambugle.co.uk
You may have read elsewhere in the Bugle that we are now on the world wide web! This is the result of a joint venture with a local start-up business, Docuright.
Docuright provides a range of services to businesses of all sizes to help them get the most out of web technology. The company was set up a few months ago by Brantham resident and Bugle-reader Mark Smith. As a local business, the company is keen to support community projects such as the Bugle, and approached the Editor a few months ago about helping to set up an online version of the magazine.
The key requirement for the website was that the Editor needs to be able to easily update the content and add new editions as required, so the site includes a content management system to enable all aspects of the site to be maintained. To keep implementation costs down, a simple page layout has been adopted, which includes the Bugle logo and a left-hand menu.
Docuright will be working with the Editor over the coming months to develop the site further. If you have any suggestions as to what you would like to see on the site, please email them to editor@branthambugle.co.uk
Docuright aims to help businesses, particularly small companies, take advantage of web technologies, through websites, web applications and consultancy. The internet has become such a popular tool for researching products and services, that having a website is now vital for businesses of all sizes.
