ATTENTION PARENTS
We are very lucky here in Brantham to have a Scout & Guide group for use by all the young people of Brantham, I believe that there are about 250 young girls and boys that attend through Rainbows, Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Guides, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Senior Section. So why was it at the annual AGM meeting in May there were maybe 20 people in the room! There was 5, yes that's right 5 parents attending, the rest was made up of the executive committee and unit leaders.
I was appalled at the lack of support from parents, if it wasn't for the commitment from all of the above mentioned we would not have a Scout and Guide group.
I for one don't understand all the in's and out's of running this group, but have always been willing to help and support the group when parents help is needed, for example Szechuan Charity Day, Quiz Nights, Race Nights etc. fresh faces as well as the usual regulars would always be welcome at such events. Its not much to ask for.
So come on all you parents get involved. Contact your child's unit leaders and let them know you're there, and willing to support them should they need you.
Its your children that benefit.

We have walked from Dedham back to the Scout Hut, we have made catapults, we visited the Redoubt at Harwich and then had chips on the Green and to top it all we won the District Sports Trophy. The Cub Pack is very busy, we currently have 44 children including 4 girls, and in September our leadership team will have increased by one, which is a good start but we still need more adults to help run the pack.
