February March 2009: News - Brooklands School

Happy New Year to you all, Brooklands is starting 2009 on a high note with the recent publication of our Ofsted report. Ofsted visited the school on November 25th and concluded that we were Outstanding, the highest grade they attribute.

This accolade is rare and we join the top 10% of Suffolk schools in receiving this grade. The full report is now live on the Ofsted website and all parents of children at the school or who have shown an interest in a place for September should have received a copy.

Elements that particularly pleased us were the praise they gave our pupils for their excellent behaviour, and the school in our drive to promote a love of life and learning, a crucial part of the schools’ mission statement.

The team only suggested one area of improvement for the school to work on, and we have already started making plans to improve our provision, increasing our pupil’s access to culturally diverse experiences.

For the Staff and Governors this is a huge affirmation of the improvement path we have chosen over the past three years, in May 2005 the school was judged as Satisfactory. Ofsted graded our capacity to improve as Outstanding.  We are therefore committed to continuing to provide the best service possible for this community and ensure Brooklands continues to be one of the best Primary schools in the County.

Thank you to all those parents and residents who have sent their congratulations to the school, we feel this is a cause for celebration for us all, Pupils, Parents, Staff and Governors of the school.

Kind regards
