It has been rather quiet since the last Bugle due to the Summer Holidays, but we are now back and busy as usual. We have had our usual start to the term with a games night followed by our annual daffodil bulb planting on the village verges; Mrs Wines, your request has been listen to and done. We now look forward to a busy term full of exciting activities.

Scouts (10½ - 14 years of age)
The Troop Summer Camp took place at the Essex International Jamboree in North Essex and it was enjoyed by the Scouts and Young Leaders who attended with 8,500 Scouts and Guides and 1500 volunteer staff from the United Kingdom and over 30 different countries worldwide.
The activities were non-stop and into the evening each day so by the end of the week all Scouts had experienced an activity camp unlike any other.
On our sub-camp we were jointly sited with Brantham Guides and we are grateful for the help and support of their leadership team throughout the camp.
We were joined at the Jamboree by four Cattawade Explorer Scouts two of these are Young Leaders with the Troop. The assistance provided by all four Explorers during the camp was very much appreciated by both the Scouts and the Guides and their Leaders.
We have now started our Autumn/Winter programme and after our first meeting at the Hut we enjoyed a Saturday afternoon session on the tower at Thorrington campsite.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month and at least one of our activities in a month will include a challenge in the great outdoors.

We are urgently need of a Minute Secretary for our Group Executive – could you take notes at a meeting, type them up into Minutes and issue them with an Agenda for the next meeting approximately six times a year – if so please telephone Ian or Roger for more information.
Is there some other way in which you could support the Group and the Leaders who run the Sections and Units? – you may not consider you have any particular skills or abilities to offer but you will be pleasantly surprised if you give it a try!
Badge testers and those parents or friends able to offer a visit to place of interest are always in demand and this will be of valuable assistance.
Please contact any Section or Unit Leader as above.
