In August the Brantham WI Supper Club went to the Village Maid in Bradfield, for an evening of fine food and fine wine, a lovely evening was had by all with lots of old and new friends catching up, we are looking forward to the next outing in a few months time at a new venue(as yet unknown).
At the monthly meeting our speaker for the evening was a lovely young lady called Laura a community fundraiser, who talked about the work of St Elizabeth Hospice. The Hospice started in 1989 for the benefit of patients in the East Suffolk area, and next year being their 20th anniversary varies events are being planed. They have recently had some building and extension work done to improve upon the already excellent services they provide. The services provided by the Hospice include an in-patient unit, day care services, also complementary therapies these included things like the aromatherapy and massage also music and art in the form of creative therapies.
Laura spoke about the varies fund raising events they do to help towards the cost of all the services they provide, these included things along the lines of Tandem Sky Diving, Abseiling, Trekking in the Andes and Cycling in Cuba, but the most important events are the small everyday events like coffee mornings, bring and buy sales and open gardens enabling the less adventuress among us to do our bit. Meetings of Brantham WI are held every 2nd Wednesday of the month at Brantham Village Hall at 7.30pm
